Home intel

Publish date: 2024-05-20

Is this program really free?

Yes! The HomeIntel program is free for all residents – renters and owners. HomeIntel is funded by California Utility Customers and administered under the auspices of the California Public Utilities Commission. HEA offers energy efficiency programs on behalf of PG&E to its customers.

Do I have to choose between a home audit and the self-help portal?

No! In fact, we encourage you to use both to optimize your energy savings.

How long does the consultation take?

Every property is different, but the average on-site energy audit takes about 2 hours to complete.

Do I need to be home for the consultant to audit my property?

While it is not required that you be present for the duration of the audit, to be effective the consultant will need access to your entire property. Therefore, someone should be available to let the consultant in and to answer questions while they are there, if needed.

What kind of things are you looking for?

Our energy consultants are experts in identifying high energy impact energy savings opportunities that do not impact the resident’s lifestyle, such as pool pumps running too long, bathroom floors heated 24 hours a day year round, continuous hot water recirculation pumps, little-used energy hogs like old fridges in the garage... and so many more!.

Will I be required to make any changes?

No. Our goal is to help you identify areas of concern that can be addressed at low or no cost. Occasionally we will recommend upgrading an appliance, but we do not sell or endorse any specific models and you are never required to make a purchase.
