He grew up in Bellevue and later pursued higher education at Loras College, American Public University, and Morningside University. Throughout his 18-year career with the Dubuque Community School District, Jesse made a significant impact on students’ lives, serving as a teacher, coach, and eventually a principal. He was beloved by students, staff, and parents alike for his commitment to excellence in education, his kind and compassionate demeanor, and his unwavering dedication to meeting the needs of every student.

In addition to his work in education, Jesse was also deeply committed to community service. I am still in shock and saddened by the news I received today. Our incredible leader and principal, Jesse Freiburger, passed away this morning. He told us back in the fall that he had received the news that he had stomach cancer. I remember being in that room and how everyone’s hearts just sank; but, as Marshall Eagles, we fought together and leaned on eachother to support one another and to support Jesse and his family.

It is inconceivable how fast things can change. It was only a little over a month ago where we all saw Jesse outside at the Marshall Family Fun Night interacting with his staff and all of the Marshall families. Then all of a sudden he is in Hospice, and then gone a few days later. 😢…
