Pregnant Rihanna gives nod to Andr Leon Talley with iconic red coat during Super Bowl show
Pregnant Rihanna appeared to give a nod to one of fashion’s greats during her thrilling Super Bowl halftime show performance.
The Umbrella singer, 34 – who revealed she is expecting her second child after surprising fans with a baby bump as she hit the stage – wore a red coat resembling the late André Leon Talley’s iconic Norma Kamali blanket coat.
As she began levitating on a clear platform at one point during her show, Rihanna switched out of her short Alaïa coat for a longer puffer jacket by the brand.
And though her coat wasn’t the same one worn by Talley, many fans took it as a tribute to the fashion journalist, with Talley’s official Instagram account acknowledging the homage as well.
‘When the sun shines, we’ll shine together. Told you I’ll be here forever… said I’ll always be your friend,’ the account posted, along with a photo of Talley in the jacket, followed by the singer during the show.
